We need your help urgently
The Bethlehem Shelter is in crisis following a serious car accident involving Diana, two days ago. A big car totaled her car, and Diana suffered fractured ribs and severe injuries to her face, nose, and body.
Diana is now on strict bed rest, and without her car, the shelter's rescue and transport efforts have stopped. She is our only foot soldier, and her vehicle is essential for saving lives. The insurance process is slow, and we can't afford to wait.
We are appealing for donations to cover the cost of her car's repairs. Please donate today to help Diana heal and get back on the road for the animals who need her. Thank you for your support.

Major Progress for Bethlehem's Stray Dog TNR Program 🎉
We are so pleased to announce that the Bethlehem Municipality has approved a two-acre plot of land for our Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) initiative. 🐾
This dedicated space will soon be a central hub for our efforts, complete with a clinic 🏥 and transport vehicle 🚐. We are also excited to partner with a team of volunteer vets who will be instrumental in the sterilization process. 👩⚕️
Thank you to Mayor Maher Qanawati for his support in making this a reality. 👍 This is a huge step toward managing the stray dog population humanely in our community. ❤️

We received a call about a young male dog found on the streets of Beit Sahour. He had been there for two days, and despite efforts from a kind woman named Suzanne and another caring man, he wasn't able to get help from local vets.
We immediately sent our worker Ahmad to rescue him. When he arrived at the vet, it was discovered he had an extremely high fever of 43°C, severe tick fever, and sunburn. Sadly, he passed away within 20 minutes of being rescued.
Thank you to everyone who tried to save him.

😔 Our workers found this sweet 2-month-old puppy dumped near the shelter this morning. 😞 A visit to the vet revealed a fractured back leg and pelvis. 🦴
He doesn't need surgery, just a quiet place for cage rest 🙏 to heal. Our shelter is completely overwhelmed with puppies right now and we desperately need a foster home! 🏡🥺
Can you open your heart and your home to this little one? ❤️ Please contact us if you can help! 🐾

A dog was found barely able to lift his head on Doha St. in Bethlehem. A compassionate woman saw his struggle and reached out. Our team, Sulaiman and our driver, raced to help, but sadly, they were too late.
This innocent life was a victim of poisoning—a truly evil way to "get rid of" a dog.

Another heartbreaking case of poisoning. 💔
We received a message last night about a dog in distress, a victim of poisoning. While we are grateful to the person who reached out, this beautiful dog's life could have been saved.
We want to make a plea to our community: If you see an animal in immediate danger, especially from poisoning, please take them to the nearest vet immediately. Notifying us is a crucial first step, but it's not always enough. Delays can be fatal.
Sadly, a friend and her son went to the location only to find the dog had already passed away. This tragic outcome is a painful reminder that immediate action is the key to saving lives.
__________________________________________________________________________________A man called us about a dog he thought had mange that had entered his building. Our workers went to the location and found a very scared but friendly young male with beautiful colored eyes. 🤩
The good news? He didn't have mange, but he was covered in ticks! He has already received his tick treatment and is now safe with us. He'll soon be vaccinated and fixed. 💖
URGENT: This sweet boy desperately needs a foster or adoptive home! Please message us if you can open your home and your heart to him. 🙏

⚠️ Trigger Warning: The following post contains upsetting images of deceased cats. ⚠️
Our hearts are broken for the animals and for the incredible efforts of Amira Shomali in Beit Sahour. 💔
Amira is a kind woman who has selflessly cared for the stray cats and a mother dog and her puppies in her neighborhood, despite facing constant complaints and threats from neighbors.
This morning, she made a heartbreaking discovery: the dead bodies of her cats, including a pregnant mother. The mother dog and puppies she also fed have disappeared. For weeks, she has been finding poisoned food in the area. 😔
Amira bravely went to the municipality with the bodies to report this cruelty, though they denied any responsibility. We want to thank Amira for her tireless advocacy and for being a voice for these innocent animals. This kind of cruelty has to stop.

Our worker, Sulaiman, spotted a male dog in Doha who had been poisoned. Thanks to his quick action and the emergency treatment from Vet Ahmad Abu Dayyeh, the dog survived. He is now recovering but is very tired.
Unfortunately, the laying out of poisoned bait in the street is becoming more common recently. We have received numerous messages about dogs and cats found dead.
This cruelty needs to stop. 🚫
We thank Sulaiman and Dr. Dayyeh for saving this dog’s life.

⚠️ TW: images of animal neglect ⚠️ We've had to make another rescue from a pet store in Nablus. 💔 The owner keeps his cats in terrible, unsanitary conditions, and despite our previous concerns, the situation has not changed.
We sent someone to buy two more cats on our behalf and immediately took them to Royal Care veterinary clinic. The vets found they were suffering from a host of illnesses:
High fever and mycoplasma
Stomach and ear infections
Internal worms and external parasites (fleas and worms)
Blood parasites
The good news is that they are now receiving treatment and are already doing much better. The little white cat even got a much-needed bath and shave to help him on his road to recovery! 💖
__________________________________________________________________________________A woman spotted this very sick kitten near her house and brought her to Vet Mohammed Rajii. The kitten was extremely weak and suffering from severe dehydration and infections. Despite receiving immediate treatment, she died the next day.
We thank Dr. Raji for doing all that he could, and the woman who saw a kitten in need, and gave her a fighting chance.
__________________________________________________________________________________Urgent call for a foster or adoptive home! 🙏
This sweet, small mother cat and her two female kittens desperately need a new home. The mother cat walks with a strange gait, likely from an old injury, but she is still a loving and protective mom. 💖
A month ago, she found safety in Diana's yard, and she recently returned with her two babies. Diana took them all to the vet for vaccinations and deworming, and they are all incredibly friendly and ready for their next chapter.
Please, if you can foster or adopt this beautiful family, please call +972 595221771

URGENT: This brave puppy is now looking for a foster or adoptive home! Please call +972 595221771 if you are interested in giving him a loving family. 💖
Diana spotted this puppy lying alone on the street and rescued him just in time.
He was covered in ticks, dehydrated, and very tired. Diana took him to the vet for a tick pill and a check-up. Afterward, she took him home, where he received a much-needed bath, food, and water.
He's now clean, fed, and finally getting the rest he deserves.

Happy update! 🎉 Late last month we rescued this friendly female suffering from mange🐾 who was found wandering in a factory area. 💖 Under the care of her sponsor, she has received treatment and her fur has begun to grow back. 🌱
Now that she is in a safe and caring environment 🏡, she is slowly adjusting to a life that doesn’t require being in survival mode. We are so happy for her. ✨

⚠️ TW: Blood, severe injury ⚠️
💔 This sweet young female dog was tragically hit by a speeding car and left on the street.
A kind woman saw what happened and refused to abandon her. She called us and stayed by the dog's side until our worker, Ahmad, and a taxi arrived. Sadly, despite her immediate transfer to Vet Mohammed Raji, she died upon arrival from severe bleeding and a head injury. 😔
This tragic death is a painful reminder that our actions behind the wheel have consequences. Please, drive with care. Every life matters.

It's bath time for our pups! 🛁
Our amazing workers, Ahmad and Sulaiman, are giving all our dogs a much-needed bath to help them stay cool in this heat. They absolutely love it! ❤️
This project started last month and they'll be finishing up in the next few days, which means all our dogs will be sparkling clean and feeling refreshed in this summer heat! ☀️🌡️

Here are two special kittens we recently rescued: 🐱💖
The first, a tiny blind female, was found by Shadia Issa. She was sick and, despite receiving the best care, she sadly didn't make it. 💔 Her life was short, but she was so loved.
The second, a male kitten who lost his leg after a car ran over it, was treated by Dr. Ahmad Abu Dayyeh and cared for by Diana. He had to have his leg amputated, but he is now a healthy, three-legged miracle! ✨
Both were fostered by our amazing friend, Rahmah, who gave them so much love. Now, our little survivor is ready for his next step—finding a forever home. 🏡 He's a very friendly and clever cat! If you know someone who could give him a loving family, please share! ❤️

This mother and her 5 nursing puppies, she was brought and dumped by two men as appeared in our cameras.
This is not what we are here for. 💔 A mother dog 🐕 and her five puppies 🐾 were just dumped at our full shelter.
The good news: A compassionate sponsor has taken them in! They will be cared for until they are ready to be adopted. 🏡 Our friend sari drove them from the shelter to meet another driver who delivered them to the foster where they arrived safe and sound. 🥰

😔 A kind person found her near their home in Jenin and called Vet Mohammed from the Jenin clinic, who immediately took her in. When he sent us her photos, our hearts broke. She was weak, unable to walk, and suffering. 💔
With Diana's help, we were able to find a sponsor on the very same night. This sweet dog is now at a clinic, getting the care and love she so desperately needs. 🩺 She's full of fleas and worms, has cataracts, and doesn't see or hear. She also has neurological problems and is barely eating. 😥
She's too weak for advanced tests like a CT scan right now, but we are doing everything we can to make her comfortable and help her get stronger. ❤️🩹

UPDATE: We have some very sad news to share. Panacotta, the sweet dog who came to us last week, has passed away. The vets believe she had a brain tumor.
Our hearts are broken, but we're finding comfort in knowing that her final days were filled with love. So many people visited her, giving her endless pets and affection. At least she knew what it felt like to be truly loved. Rest in peace, little one. 💔

These four abandoned kittens were found in a closed cardboard box by a trash can, these three-week-old babies were in desperate need of help. A woman found them but was going to leave them again, even after Diana explained they needed a nursing mother. Others even suggested putting them back by the trash.
But Diana couldn't let that happen. She took the kittens in, feeding them milk and cat food. She worked quickly to find them a new home, and the very next day, they were safe with our amazing friend, Yousra. We can't thank her enough for opening her heart and home to these little ones.

🐾 Happy International Dog Day from the Bethlehem Shelter! 🐾
Today, we celebrate our amazing canine companions! Every wagging tail and happy bark reminds us why we do what we do here in Armidale.
However, this year, our hearts are heavy. The ongoing situation with local travel restrictions and disruptions, now nearing two years, continues to affect our beloved shelter. Our circumstances only continue to deteriorate.
We've seen a sharp decline in foster and adoptive homes, and while international adoptions have declined more gradually, every single home we lose makes a huge difference.
More than anything, we desperately need loving homes for our beautiful dogs. If you've been thinking about opening your heart and home to a furry friend, now is the time! Every adoption creates space for another dog in need.
If you're unable to adopt or foster, any donation, big or small, can make a world of difference. It helps us provide food, medical care, and a safe haven for these precious souls while they wait for their forever families.
Please, consider sharing this post to help us reach more people. Let's make this International Dog Day a turning point for the dogs of the Bethlehem Shelter.
