January 2026 summary

After traveling all the way from Bethlehem to New York to Los Angeles, rescue sweethearts Tiger and Zelda have found their forever home with Loretta and her husband in San Francisco. 9 months later, they are living their best lives. At 11 years old, Tiger has become a gigantic puppy, eager to please and give affection. Zelda took a little bit longer to emerge from her shell, and was scared of Ruth’s husband. Today we heard the terrific news that he is now Zelda’s best friend. Thank you, Loretta, for giving 2 long-term shelter dogs a chance.

FOSTER/ADOPTION  NEEDED: Found in a box near SOS Village Bethlehem after a hit-and-run, this brave female cat has fought her way back from the brink. With two broken jaws and a serious head injury, her prognosis was grim.

But thanks to the quick action of our good friend, Hiba Hani, the expertise of Dr. Ahmad Abu Dayyeh and Dr. Ahmad Amad at Royal Care Veterinary Hospital, and Diana’s loving care, she is a whole new cat!

She's becoming nice and plump! We have named her Marmalade. Marmalade needs a foster or forever home.

FOSTER/ADOPTION NEEDED: Big thank you to Sonia Khouri for looking out for the strays while guiding her Christmas tours! Sonia alerted us to a sick cat in Manger Square. Our worker Ahmad went to investigate, and while the first cat was nowhere to be found, he stumbled upon this tiny kitten who was suffering from a severe mouth infection.

She was rushed to Vet Mohammed for treatment and is now recovering at Diana’s home. She’s finally warm and enjoying all the wet food she can eat!

We have named her Angie. She is approximately 3 months old. Angie needs a foster or forever home.

(Continued from previous post) Persistence Pays Off: The Manger Square Cat is Safe! 🐾

Sonia Khouri was very worried when we could not find the needy cat she saw in Manger Square with her tour group. Even after our worker Ahmad searched twice and couldn't find him, we didn't give up hope. On Wednesday, December 31st, while Diana was at the Municipality for work, she spotted him! He was sitting in the square, looking very unwell. Diana didn't hesitate—she immediately called a taxi and rushed him to Vet Mohammad Rajii.

The Diagnosis: The vet confirmed he is a male cat with a severe respiratory infection, a nose full of mucus, and badly infected teeth. He is now receiving the intensive treatment he needs.

We are so relieved he is finally off the streets and in safe hands. Please keep this brave boy in your thoughts for a speedy recovery! Then he will be ready to look for his forever home 🙏✨

🐱🙏 Rescued from a pet store in Nablus, this Himalayan beauty has come a long way. After battling a severe stomach virus and high fever at Royal Care Veterinary Hospital, she spent time recovering under our care.

Once she was healthy, vaccinated, and sterilized, she blossomed into the stunning cat you see today! We are thrilled to announce that she has already found her forever home. Safe, loved, and healthy—exactly how every cat should be.

Currently, our shelter is overflowing, and there are plenty of more cats just like these who are desperate for foster or forever homes. We are at our absolute limit. For every cat we move into a home, we can save another from the streets. If you have ever thought about opening your heart to a rescue, now is the time they need you most.

How you can save a life today:

  • Foster: Provide a temporary safe space for a cat to heal.

  • Adopt: Give a rescued soul a permanent place to belong.

  • Spread the word: Share this post so their future family might see it.

❄️ We are so happy to share that Sasha, Masha, and Freddy are enjoying their very first winter in their forever homes in Germany!

It warms our hearts to see how far they’ve come—from the streets to cozy beds and snowy adventures. Their transformation is a beautiful reminder of why we do this work.

Please consider international adoption! Our shelter is currently overflowing with dogs just like these three, each one waiting for their own "happily ever after." Whether near or far, you can change a life. ❤️🐾

Remember the 4-month-old female puppy found poisoned and suffering from seizures near a home in Beit Sahour (https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1CiXQskV23/) ? While she survived the initial emergency, her recovery has taken a heartbreaking turn. She remains very skinny, unable to stand or walk, and is covered in wounds that refuse to heal.

Two days ago, we rushed her to Royal Care Veterinary Hospital in Nablus for urgent X-rays and blood work. The results are devastating: she has a fractured leg, a severe blood infection, skin infections, and bacteria so aggressive her body is failing.

She is currently too weak to even stand. Her road to recovery will be very long and requires intensive, specialized care. We cannot do this alone—please consider donating to help cover her mounting medical bills. Every bit helps us give this baby the life she deserves. 🙏💔

Our friend Hanin found this helpless little puppy near her house. He is just a baby—no more than 50 days old!

We immediately sent him to the vet for a full check-up and he has already received his first round of shots. He is healthy, sweet, and ready for a fresh start.

Can you help? This little guy is looking for a foster or forever home. He is far too small to be on his own and needs a warm place to grow up. Please contact +972 595221771 🏠❤️

Our volunteers found this tiny puppy wandering all alone near our shelter, with no mother in sight. He was far too young to fend for himself, so we brought him into our care immediately.

He is scheduled to get his first shots and is looking for a soft place to land. He is around 6 weeks old.

We are desperately looking for a foster or forever home for this little one. Please contact +972 595221771 🏠❤️

Look at this poor angel. For days, he lay on the side of a main road in Beit Sahour, suffering in plain sight. Instead of helping him, people simply covered him with pieces of wood and left him to die.

We were horrified to hear of a woman who saw him and refused to help, fearing "infection" or "sickness," rather than showing mercy. To the many people who walked or drove past him while he suffered from severe dehydration, hunger, and skin disease: how could he be left like this?

The moment we heard his location, we immediately sent a taxi to rush him to the vet. He was still clinging to life when he was picked up, but tragically, he passed away the moment he arrived at the clinic. He was just too exhausted and neglected to fight any longer.

Rest in peace, sweet boy. We are so sorry the world was not kinder to you. We will continue to fight for those who have no voice, but we beg our community: please, if you see a soul in need, do not look away. 🐾🌈

❄️🏠 Check out Joshi, who was adopted by Nina three years ago! 🐾

Joshi is a true family member—he was even part of Nina’s wedding! 💍 He is now living his absolute best life in Germany.

🌍 Adopt Internationally!

A young man found this tiny puppy crying in pain after being hit by a car and left behind. He immediately contacted us and rushed her to Dr. Ahmad Abu Dayyeh.

The damage was devastating: she suffered from internal bleeding, a traumatic hernia, and her lower body was shattered. Dr. Ahmad performed emergency surgery to repair the hernia and stop the bleeding, but her injuries were simply too severe. Tragically, she passed away in the ICU this morning.

We are devastated, but we are thankful she was shown kindness in her final hours and didn't die alone on the cold street. Run free, little angel. 🌈🐾

A kind man found this poor dog crying in pain on the streets of Beit Sahour after being hit by a car and left behind.

We immediately rushed him to Al Buraq Veterinary Clinic. X-rays confirmed our fears: this young puppy has a fractured pelvis and a broken paw. He has been hospitalized with Dr. Mohammed Raji for the past few days to manage his severe pain and receive stabilizing treatment.

He is so young and has already suffered so much. We are urgently looking for a sponsor or donors to help cover his medical case. Without your support, we cannot provide the long-term care he needs to walk again. 🐾🙏

UPDATE on this puppy we rescued last week (https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1E9wvavRXW/):

After a life-threatening hit-and-run that left him unable to walk, we were so relieved when, after one week, puppy was able to walk again. We feared that the accident may have left him paralysed. With medical treatment and plenty of rest, this guy is well on the road to recovery and will soon be available to adopt. Thanks again to Al Buraq Veterinary Clinic, as well as the kind man who saved his life by bringing him to us.

🐾✨ Four years ago, Lily found her forever home! Her family sent us this beautiful video to celebrate all the love and adventures they’ve shared since her adoption.

We absolutely love receiving updates like this—it reminds us why we do what we do. Seeing our "buddies" thriving and cherished is the best reward!

Here’s to many more happy years for Lily and her family! ❤️🏠

A Heartfelt Thank You to PETA! 🐾🙌

We are incredibly grateful to have received a generous donation from PETA toward food for the hundreds of dogs and cats currently in our care.

With these funds, we were able to restock our supplies from Petline Animal Food Store, ensuring our rescues stay healthy and fed. Keeping hundreds of bellies full is a huge task, and we couldn’t do it without this kind of support! 🥘🐶🐱

Thank you, PETA, for helping us care for the animals of Bethlehem.

💔 This tiny puppy was found abandoned and alone, but his physical condition tells a much darker story. His ears were brutally cut—a cruel practice by people who mistakenly believe it makes a dog "strong and furious."

To make matters worse, he has tested positive for Parvo. He is currently undergoing intensive treatment, fighting for his life against this deadly virus. He has already suffered so much at the hands of humans; we are doing everything in our power to ensure he survives.

Please keep this little fighter in your thoughts. We hope he can make it through this so he can finally know what it feels like to be loved. 🙏🐾

We rescued three adult female dogs while carrying out our ongoing TNR Program.

While all three are now safe, two of the females were found with severe vaginal cancer. They were in pain and struggling, but we couldn't turn our backs on them.

The Good News: Both brave girls have successfully undergone surgery with Dr. Mohammad Rajii. They are now back at our shelter, tucked in with warm blankets and heating pads.

They have a long road to recovery, but for the first time, they are safe, warm, and loved.

Thank you for helping us give them a second chance at life! ❤️🩹

💔 These two babies were found abandoned by the trash, huddled next to their mother who had been killed by a car. They were terrified and alone, but their story didn’t end there. 🐾

Thanks to a kind friend and Dr. Mohammad Raji, they have been vet-checked, vaccinated, and are ready for a new chapter!

WE NEED YOUR HELP: Our shelter is currently at full capacity. These resilient puppies need a forever home—or a temporary foster—to give them the life their mother couldn't have.

Can you open your heart or your home? 🏠❤️

This sweet girl was found in a field with her mother and siblings, but she was born with a painful deformity—her toes are fused and overlapping. 🐾

We acted fast: Sulaiman rushed her to Al Buraq for X-rays, and she spent two days under the expert care of Dr. Mohammad Rajii. We are happy to report she is feeling much better and is currently resting at the shelter!

The Next Step: She needs a specialized operation to fix her paw and give her a life without pain. We are currently reaching out to associations to help fund and manage her surgery. We’ve had some "nos," but we are waiting on one promising "maybe." 🤞

Please keep this little fighter in your thoughts! We won't give up on her. ❤️🩹

💔 Diana was passing through Dar Salah when she found a mother dog deceased in the street—left there with no one to help. Nearby, her three puppies were huddled together, sleeping on a pile of garbage. 🥺

By the time we returned to save them, two had scattered, but we managed to rescue one little survivor. 🐾

  • Our worker, Sulaiman, ensured the mother dog was finally given a dignified burial.

  • The puppy was rushed to the vet for a check-up and vaccinations.

  • Though the little one fell ill a few days later, he is receiving treatment and is finally on the mend!

It’s a long road for this brave puppy, but he’s no longer alone. Thank you for standing with us as we save the ones we can. ❤️🩹
