July Summary

Overwhelmed, Underfunded, & Urgent.

💔 We need your help, friends. Our Bethlehem Shelter is in crisis. Just 10 days ago we appealed for donations, and only 4 kind souls responded. Our shelter is overflowing with rescued animals – 20 new arrivals recently, plus Diana's 31 at home! Vet bills are piling up, and finding forever homes has become incredibly difficult since the checkpoint closures in late 2023.

We are struggling, and these precious lives depend on us. Please, if you can, consider a donation to help us cover mounting vet bills and care for these animals. Even a small amount makes a huge difference. If you're able to adopt internationally or foster, you'd be freeing up vital space and saving a life.

Every share helps too! Thank you for being their voice.

Remember the three tiny nursing puppies found in the desert two weeks ago? 🐶🐾 (See their initial rescue here: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/16UrrBgYik/)

Mohammad Radaida of the Civil Defense found them abandoned in the Al Obaidiyyeh desert, desperately searching for milk. 💔 It's heartbreaking to imagine someone leaving them in such heat. 🔥

We're happy to report they're doing well! 🥰 After a few days with Diana, they moved to a foster in Jerusalem (update here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1Y3NHLmBUM/), and now they're with another amazing foster who will care for them until they're ready for adoption. 🙏🏡

Thank you to everyone who helped rescue these three vulnerable puppies. Your kindness made all the difference! ❤️

Tiger & Zelda: Two Months in Sunny California! 🐾☀️

Can you believe it's been over 2 months since Tiger & Zelda started their new adventure in sunny California? This video shows them with their incredible trainer, working through things beautifully. Zelda's still a little nervous 🥺, but with lots of love and patience ❤️, they're making such great progress every day! We're so incredibly grateful to their American mom, Lorette, for everything! 🙏🏡

Amina & Star: From Survivors to Seeking Forever Love Again ❤️

🌟 Meet Star! This resilient cat has been on quite a journey. In 2022, he survived a horrific car accident that left him with a broken jaw, broken leg, and impaired vision. Thanks to amazing care at Royal Care Vet Hospital and our dedicated team, Star made a remarkable recovery! Last year, he found a wonderful home with our dear friend Nediva. ❤️

Sadly, Star, along with sweet Amina, recently returned to us after Nediva's passing in June 2025. 😔 They're a bit sad but are adjusting to life back with us. Star is now vaccinated, neutered, healthy, and can even see a bit with one eye (he's not fully blind!).

This brave boy is ready for a foster or forever home once more. Can you help us find a new loving family for Star and Amina? They deserve all the happiness! 🏡🐾

New Washing Machine Thanks to a Generous Friend

🧺💖🐾 We're thrilled to share some wonderful news! A very dear and generous friend of our shelter collected donations for us to purchase this much-needed washing machine. Soon, we'll have it hooked up to water so we can easily wash all our sheets and bedding, making a huge difference in keeping our shelter clean and comfortable for the animals.

This incredible friend, along with her friends, also generously donates a bag of cat food every single month! Their ongoing support is truly invaluable. We're so grateful for this amazing gift and all the kindness they extend to our shelter. 🙏

__________________________________________________________________________________Following a tragic case of rabies involving a young boy in Jenin, the Ministries of Agriculture and Veterinary Department have launched a crucial campaign. Their goal is to vaccinate all private dogs and cats, including those on farms, to prevent further spread.

As part of this vital initiative, the Ministry of Veterinary Department in Bethlehem recently visited our shelter. Under the excellent organization of Dr. Kamel Abu Amriyyeh, the manager of the veterinary department in Bethlehem, their dedicated team successfully vaccinated all of our adult dogs and cats against rabies.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Kamel Abu Amriyyeh and his entire team for their swift action and invaluable work in ensuring the health and safety of our beloved animals. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe! 🙏🐶🐱

Our Rescued Husky is Back Home! 💖🐾

Do you remember the beautiful husky we found in our trap about two weeks ago? She was visibly traumatized and suffering from numerous injuries from abuse, including a deep, painful internal ear infection. We had to keep her hospitalized for over 10 days at Al Buraq clinic for treatment and recovery.

We're thrilled to share that shortly after her release, we managed to connect with her owners! That's when we learned the heartbreaking truth: she hadn't been abandoned by them. She had actually been stolen from her owners' yard just days before we found her, and it was the thieves who left her near our shelter.

Her owners had been absolutely distraught for nearly two weeks, searching desperately for her. You can imagine their pure joy and relief when they finally found her safe and sound with us! She is now happily back with her loving family.

We couldn't be happier with this incredible update and knowing this sweet girl is safe at home. What a journey for her! 🐕‍🩹🏡

Heartwarming transformation of skinny and scared street pup

Look at the amazing transformation of the puppy we rescued just last week! (See her first post: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1LCYgdQakb/)

She's an absolute fighter and has made a complete 100% turn around. We couldn't be prouder of her strength and spirit! Keep shining, little one! 🥰🌟

Horrific Abandonment & A Fight for Survival, Guided by Grace 💔

Someone abandoned 8 nursing puppies – less than 5 days old – next to a dumpster, left in the sun, on the road, near the trash. Five lives perished. To think that someone could be so callous to the most vulnerable of God’s creatures. 😢

By God's grace, Diana found the remaining 3 survivors! After work, she gave them milk and kept them warm. They were so weak. Diana nursed them into the early hours. They cried all through the night until they finally began to sleep. They're now eating and warm – a miracle to see their spirits push through!

Two days later, their condition improved. A friend connected us with an Association that, through God's providence, found them a foster home with a nursing mother! Our deep gratitude goes to the Association for taking over their care until they're ready for adoption. 🙏🐶🐱

__________________________________________________________________________________🚑 Beit Jala dog and the family he chose 💖

This friendly male dog has been a cherished part of a family's life in Beit Jala for two years, ever since he was a puppy. He's always stayed close to their home, cared for by the whole family, including the grandparents, the daughter-in-law Vicky, and her daughters. He loved being near them, and they always made sure he was fed.

A few days ago, the family called us in distress. Their beloved dog was badly injured, his legs wounded and bleeding. He had been attacked by other dogs but, knowing where he felt safe, he went straight to the family's home for help.

We immediately sent him to Vet Mohammed Raji, who expertly treated his wounds. We're happy to report that he's now treated, vaccinated, dewormed, and neutered!

Thanks to the entire family's care and love, he's now back with them, where he truly feels safe. What a resilient boy! 🐾🏡

Two Puppies, Broken Bones: Urgent Surgery Needed After Traffic Accidents 💔🐶

First, this sweet female puppy was hit by a car, breaking her leg. Sumayyah Nawawreh saw the accident and got her to Al Buraq veterinary clinic for initial care.

Second, a 6-month-old puppy from Beit Jala was also hit by a car, breaking his leg and pelvis. Our friend Magi, who cared for him, reached out and he was sent to Al Buraq.

We couldn't find sponsors, so we sourced surgical pins from Royal Care Hospital in Nablus. Both puppies were then sent to Vet Mohammed Abu Lub in Jenin, who generously offered to perform their surgeries.

A huge thanks to Vet Mohammed and his assistant for operating on both puppies the same day! These operations are crucial for their recovery. While his services are free, the cost of pins and aftercare is substantial.

RIP - puppy from Dheisheh camp

We're sharing a truly heartbreaking story about a young puppy who suffered immensely after being hit by a car in Dheisheh camp. A kind man, Raouf Masalmeh, witnessed the accident and saw the puppy left on the street, suffering and crying. He immediately called us for help.

We quickly sent a taxi to transport the puppy to Vet Ahmad Abu Dayyeh. The vet immediately checked and treated the puppy, but sadly, he was experiencing continuous seizures and crying intensely due to a severe head injury. While Vet Ahmad was able to control his seizures and pain, the injuries were too severe. Despite everyone's best efforts, the little one tragically didn't make it.

We want to extend our sincere thanks to Raouf Masalmeh and his friends for their compassion in helping to carry the injured puppy and get him into the taxi. Their kindness in that moment made a difference.

This loss is a reminder of the impact of road accidents on these most vulnerable of God’s creatures.. Rest in peace, little one. 🙏

🐾💖 Meet Floki!

Our friend from Aida Camp, Hanin, who helps animals, received a call one night. Children brought her a husky in poor condition – matted, dirty. Hanin kept him safe until we sent a taxi to the vet the next morning.

At the clinic, Floki got a full check-up, shots, and was neutered. He's healing and ready for his next step! Soon, he'll go to a dog spa for a bath and a haircut.

Now, we hope to find Floki a loving foster or forever home. Our shelter is full, and we want this sweet boy to experience family life.

Can you open your heart and home to Floki? Please reach out if you can foster or adopt this husky. Let's help Floki find the happy ending he deserves! 🏡✨

Trigger warning: graphic injury  & maggots

Last week we rescued a friendly, senior dog with a severe, maggot-infested leg wound. Shadia Issa and Ahmad Issa from Al Khader spotted him, in pain and silent, likely abandoned despite his once good health.

We quickly sent him to Vet Mohammed Rajii, who treated the deep wound and removed maggots. He's recovering well, eating, and will get his shots when stable. Too old for sedation, he won't be neutered.

Now safe at the shelter, he even enjoyed a much-needed spa day for a bath, nail trim, and haircut for his thick coat.

A huge thank you to Shadia Issa, Ahmad Issa, and Vet Mohammed Rajii for their compassion and care! We'll keep you updated on this gentle giant's journey.

Hiba’s Cat's Remarkable Recovery! 💖

Hiba Al Ayyoubi, founder of a cat shelter dedicated to Hebron’s strays, found this very sick cat near her home and reached out for assistance. We were able to send her to Vet Firas Mujahed, who provided amazing care.

This poor cat was in a bad way, with straws and bones lodged between her rotten teeth, causing severe illness. She was hospitalized and received extensive treatment. Thanks to Vet Mujahed's dedicated care, she made a remarkable recovery and is now back with Hiba!

A huge thank you to Vet Firas Mujahed for his exceptional work, and to Hiba Al Ayyoubi for her unwavering dedication to the stray cats of Hebron. 🐾

In Al Karkafeh, Bethlehem, two young men found a pincher dog, bloody and injured, on the street. They called Diana who instructed them to contact the owner, whom they knew. Sadly, the owner refused to help, stating, "I don't have time for him, leave him on the streets."

Diana then instructed the two men to take  Vet Mohammed Raji. He gave the dog pain relief and stopped the bleeding. Within ten minutes, Diana secured a sponsor through an association, arranging immediate transfer for the dog.

The dog's injuries are severe. His eyes are dislocated, a deep wound marks his neck, and his jaw is dislocated. The hospital performs tests. An eye specialist will examine him tomorrow.

This rescue highlights a community's compassion in the face of an owner's neglect. Thank you to the young men for initiating this pincher’s rescue, Dr. Raji for providing initial treatment and pain relief, and the Association for sponsoring his treatment.

Update 6 Days Later:

We have a heartbreaking update on the Pinscher hit by a car ((https://www.facebook.com/share/v/14PW6UfLDyy/)): his eyes were surgically removed, and he received neck and jaw surgery. He's in critical condition but still fighting. Our hearts go out to this poor Pinscher.

🐗💔😭 Two days ago, Beit Sahour municipality employees contacted Diana about a dying donkey found on a street. It could not move or stand.

Amjad and Sulaiman, workers from Diana's team, moved the donkey to a shaded yard near their shelter. They contacted a donkey rescue organization, which arranged a special trolley and driver. By afternoon, the donkey was at a hospital.

Despite these efforts, the donkey died the next day. It suffered from extreme dehydration, emaciation, anemia, wounds, and fractures. How long the donkey had been on the street is unknown.

Sorry we couldn't save you, donkey 😢

We received an urgent tip about a pet store in Nablus keeping cats in horrific conditions – sick, starving, and crammed into tiny, filthy cages. It was absolutely heartbreaking and unacceptable. 💔

We immediately organized a rescue. We sent a trusted person to the store to purchase two of the most critically ill cats, knowing this was the only way to get them out safely and legally at that moment. They were almost dead with high fevers and rushed straight to Royal Care Veterinary Hospital. 🏥

After a week of intensive, life-saving care, they miraculously pulled through! 🙏 Then, Mohammad Al Rub in Jenin not only took them in but adopted them! They're now safe, loved, and finally experiencing kindness. ❤️

We tried to go back for more, sending people to buy additional cats, but when they arrived, the pet store was suddenly empty. 😟 We have no idea what happened to the remaining animals, and it's deeply concerning. We've tried to find out, but no one seems to know.

This experience highlights the urgent need for animal welfare protection and oversight. Every life matters.🐾

__________________________________________________________________________________

This week, we got an urgent call about a female dog found near a factory in critical condition. She was suffering severely: covered in ticks, battling mange that had sealed her eyes shut, and with a prolapsed rectum.

We immediately sent our team to Vet Mohammed Rajii, who confirmed her dire state. Knowing she needed specialized, long-term care, we reached out to several organizations.

We're incredibly grateful that three offered to help, and one amazing association committed to sponsoring her entire case! 🙏

Today, we successfully transported her to the association. She's starting her long journey to recovery, now in expert hands with a real chance at a healthy, happy life.
